Founded in 1976 on Guernsey, a British Crown Dependency located in the Channel Islands between Great Britain and France, GUERNSEY WOOLLENS inherits and refines traditional knit patterns and details originating in the Guernsey Islands, bringing them to life in the modern era.

Traditional knitwear, which has been passed down on Guernsey Island since the 17th century, was not only worn by fishermen and sailors but was also issued as equipment for the navy and garrison, and was even favored by the Scottish royal family.

Made with wool containing sheep's fat and knitted using the unique Guernsey method, which creates a tightly woven stockinette stitch, this knit offers excellent not only warmth but also water resistance.

While they also produce basic fisherman knits like the one pictured, their most distinctive product is the traditional Guernsey sweater, which can be worn front or back. At first glance, the knit appears simple, but it's packed with functional details, such as a high collar to protect against the cold, wide armholes and side seams for ease of movement, and slits at the hem.
