Founded in 1891 by Edouard Blanchard, the company initially practiced traditional French shoemaking. However, his son, Eugène, sought modern shoemaking techniques and traveled to Massachusetts, USA, to learn the Goodyear welt construction method. He returned to France in 1922 and opened the first JM Weston store on Boulevard de la Crucel in Paris.

Not only does it own the world's only tannery (leather tanning factory) for sole leather, but it also uses Dupuy, the world's finest calf leather tannery under the EPI Group, for the uppers of its shoes, demonstrating its commitment to using only the highest quality materials.

The brand's signature model is the "180 Signature Loafer," which boasts an elegant form characteristic of French shoes. Since its creation in 1946, it has been supported worldwide as a masterpiece that combines comfort and beauty, and has been manufactured continuously for over 70 years.

The shoes are highly regarded for their ability to achieve optimal fitting through sizing in 4mm increments and offering up to 7 width options, and in Europe, they are known as shoes given as gifts for life's milestones such as graduation and job commencement celebrations.
