Born in Newcastle, England in 1949, Nigel Cabourn studied clothing design at Northumbria University. The brand originated from "CRICKET," which he launched in 1971, and was renamed "Nigel Cabourn" in 1980, bearing his own name.

Designer Nigel Cabourn is a world-renowned collector of military and vintage clothing, and the brand's main items are outerwear pieces that combine high functionality with designs inspired by his own collection of over 4,000 vintage items. In addition, the brand also develops collaborations with various brands such as TIMEX, RED WING, and Danner, along with its second line "LYBRO," which is based on workwear.

Without being influenced by trends, they continue to create high-quality items based on the history and stories behind real clothing. Incidentally, Nigel Cabourn is also known as a Japanophile and serves as a visiting professor in the Popular Culture Department at Kyoto Seika University.

The collection consists of an authentic line produced primarily in the UK and a main line produced primarily in Japan. It is sold in select shops in over 30 countries, including the UK, Germany, other parts of Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia, with a flagship store in London and six shops in Japan.

The body is made of Harris Tweed, hand-woven by artisans in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, and the shoulder pads use a high-density, water-resistant Ventile textile, making it a truly British piece.
